Our Story

School Bytes was first launched in 2015 by Blake Garrett, whilst he was in Year 12 at Chatswood High School.

The software was developed for schools, with schools, as the School Bytes journey began through direct collaboration with the administrative and executive staff at Chatswood High School.

The initial focus of School Bytes was to streamline the process of sending Statements of Account to parents – which was a labour intensive process that virtually required ‘all hands on deck’ and that occurred at least once every term, at every NSW Government school. On our platform, staff can now send digital statements in a matter of minutes.

From its humble beginnings of only two staff and two schools in 2016, School Bytes has continued to grow exponentially and is currently (as of March 2021) being used in over 430 schools across NSW covering 300,000 students. Our latest release, the Event Management module, was developed with extensive feedback from a wide array of schools, and continues our mission to reduce administrative burden for all school stakeholders.

We have equally considered the experience from a parent’s perspective, through our focus on making it quicker and easier for parents to receive correspondence, statements and reminders, and access a secure payment gateway. Our schools have found that adopting our platform has led to improved engagement with their parent community.

We have a dedicated and enthusiastic team that is committed to supporting our schools with a user-friendly digital cloud platform that has been designed with their specific needs in mind and that ultimately reduces the overall administrative burden for both non-teaching and teaching staff.
